One of the more spirited activities during ASABE's Annual International Meeting is the Robotics Student Design Competition. Student teams from agricultural and biological engineering departments both domestic and international compete by designing autonomous robots that can complete specific tasks. In 2017 teams were asked to build machines that, in a simulated field setting, could detect color, cut down a target and clear the area of debris. This video takes you into the action as these budding designers bring months of preparation and practice to the main contest stage in Spokane, WA. Registration is open and teams are already forming for 2018's robotics competition in Detroit, MI! asabe.org/awards-landmarks/student-awards,-competitions-scholarships/robotics-competition.aspx
